Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday insisted that the Modi government performed no position in Dassault by choosing Anil Ambani’s firm as one among its ‘offset’ companions.

There is of course, as per defence procurement procedure, an offset agreement every original equipment manufacturer has to fulfil and if he wants to fulfil it by partnership with Companies that he meets in India then it’s his choice who he wants to go with.”
It is that this ‘offset’ obligation, which requires investing 50 per cent of the entire price of the deal in India, is the bone of competition. The quantity of this offset is about eight billion Euros.
